At the time of its creation, each Town served as a Legislative District, and was assigned a number of legislative seats based on the population of the Town. In 1967, Saugerties had 4 legislative seats. In the year 2000, the legislative maps were created which no longer directly corresponded to the town lines, but retained the proportional, multi-member districts. Beginning in 2010, legislative maps were drawn with single-member districts, each having a roughly equal population. In the tables below, when legislators are elected from multi-member districts, I have made an effort to list them in order of their vote totals, from largest to smallest. |

Saugerties | John Hall | Democratic | Member of the rock band Orleans, would be elected to the Saugerties School Board in 1991, and later represent New York's 19th Congressional District from 2007-2011. His Congressional portrait from 2007 is displayed here. In 1988, he wrote and recorded Saugerties Song with Amy Fradon. | |
